Solar burn paintings in progress in the rooftop studio at the San Pedro home in the early 1980s. McCafferty painted and rusted his pieces on the ground, then moved them to slanted tables (this one a wood panel) to focus the strong ocean-side sunlight through magnifying glasses onto the surface of paperor canvas, creating the burns.
